For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that Allah judges fairly and that even our smallest actions matter. The khateeb explained maghfira as Allah concealing or wiping away sins, and emphasized that only Allah can grant this forgiveness. He encouraged us never to think our mistakes are too big for Allah’s mercy. When we recognize something wrong, we should ask Allah for forgiveness right away and begin tawbah: returning to Him and changing our behavior. Even if we stumble again, we can keep asking, keep returning, and keep working to do better with hope in Allah’s mercy.

  1. How can remembering Allah’s mercy help you try again after a mistake?
  2. What small step could help someone change a habit after asking Allah for forgiveness?
  3. How can we encourage each other to do better when something goes wrong?
