Prioritize the Quran amid online confusion
“We have to prioritize getting the answers from the Quran.”
Muslims should navigate a confusing, information-saturated world by prioritizing the Qur'an and Sunnah, learning their guidance through sound principles, and committing themselves and their families to live it.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Establishes guidance as Allah's enduring light across cultures and eras.
- Warns that conflicting online voices, including AI, create confusion about halal and haram and require sound Islamic legal principles.
- Explains Qur'anic guidance as the light that corrects human shortsightedness and gives trust in Allah's decree.
- Applies principles of divine justice, ease, repentance, gratitude, and spiritual nourishment to contemporary life.
- Urges listeners to seek truth, educate families, and take responsibility for implementing deen and transmitting guidance.
In the khateeb's words
“we have to prioritize getting the answers from the Quran.”
“This only comes from prioritizing the Quran and knowing that there is no guidance on earth is better than that which comes from the Quran.”
“This religion is not revealed, this revelation is not revealed to make life hard for us, right?”
“We have to make the effort to know exactly what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wants from us so that, inshaAllah, we get His blessings and His protection and His mercy”
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us that Allah's guidance helps us navigate life in every time and place. With so many opinions online, we need to seek understanding of the Quran and Sunnah instead of simply choosing answers we like. We see only part of the picture, and trusting Allah can bring comfort while we do what we can. He encouraged us to help our families learn their faith and connect it to daily life. He also explained that worship nourishes the soul, just as food nourishes the body, and urged us to make a sincere effort to seek guidance and share it with others.
- When you hear different answers about faith online, what could help you decide whom to ask for guidance?
- What helps you slow down and find meaning in prayer?
