Trust Allah while allowing yourself to grieve

“The eyes shed tears. The heart is grieving. But we do not say a word except that Allah is pleased by it.”

The khateeb, at 83:41

In one sentence

Believers should detach their hearts from the temporary dunya, trust Allah's decree and provision, and still honor natural grief through compassionate, disciplined emotional expression.

The khutbah in 5 steps

  1. Urges listeners to live like travelers and loosen attachment to worldly possessions.
  2. Uses Quranic warnings about wealth, hardship, orphans, poverty, and greed to frame dunya as a test.
  3. Connects sincerity, remembrance, and tawakkul with lasting spiritual value and Allah's provision.
  4. Explains that accepting qadr does not require suppressing emotion, using the Prophet's grief over Ibrahim.
  5. Closes by urging sincere effort, good speech, trust in Allah, and repetition of Hasbuna Allah wa ni'mal wakeel.
