Repentance & taqwaFrom the masjid's own video, Sep 25, 2026.

Make sincere repentance a daily habit

“Istighfar means regret in the heart, leaving the sin by the limbs, intending not to return to it, saying it by the tongue, and giving back the people their rights.”

The khateeb, at 19:48

In one sentence

Because every person sins but Allah's mercy remains open, Muslims should make sincere istighfar a daily habit that reforms the heart and leads them away from wrongdoing.

For the dinner table

Our mistakes do not put us beyond Allah's mercy. The khutbah teaches that istighfar is more than saying a phrase: we should regret the wrong, leave it, resolve not to return, and restore people's rights. We can make seeking forgiveness a daily habit, use Sayyid al-istighfar, and turn back immediately after a mistake. That return should show in our lives through honest speech, kindness to family, prayer on time, and leaving harmful or forbidden habits.
