For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught us from the youths in Surah al-Kahf, who held firmly to faith when their society pressured them to worship idols. Their strong identity helped them recognize when they needed to leave an environment that threatened their beliefs. The khateeb reminded parents to build that foundation in children before they face pressure from school, work, friends, or social media. He encouraged families to explain why Halloween does not fit Islamic values rather than simply issuing rules. When we protect our faith sincerely, Allah’s mercy and guidance are near.

  1. What helps you remember who you are as a Muslim when friends or social media pull you another way?
  2. How can our family explain our values kindly when we choose not to join a celebration?
  3. What is one habit that could strengthen our Islamic foundation this week?
