For the dinner table

Today we heard that Allah describes different goals with different levels of urgency. We can walk toward worldly provision with dignity, but we should run toward good deeds and flee toward Allah. Fleeing to Allah means moving away from ignorance, heedlessness, selfish desires, pride in our deeds, and dependence on people. The speaker encouraged us to act quickly when we think of calling our parents, giving charity, or praying extra prayer. Our answer to the question “Where are you going?” should always be toward Allah.

  1. What is one good deed you can do today without waiting?
  2. What does fleeing toward Allah look like in your everyday life?
  3. How can we serve someone else this week?
