For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us to prepare for our future with Allah alongside caring about school, work, and everyday needs. The khateeb encouraged us to make istighfar, asking Allah for forgiveness, a daily habit, following the example of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. He emphasized Allah’s mercy and the many opportunities we have to turn back to Him. Asking forgiveness should involve our hearts as well as our words, with sincere regret and an effort to stop repeating our mistakes. We can also ask Allah to forgive our family and others, remembering that we need Him and His guidance every day.

  1. When during your day could you pause to ask Allah for forgiveness?
  2. What could you do to help put things right after making a mistake?
  3. Who would you like to include in your dua tonight, and why?
