Hope in hardship requires purposeful action

“The same Lord who has changed your situation in the past can still change your situation.”

The khateeb, at 19:01

For the dinner table

The khutbah explains that Al-Isra and Al-Mi'raj came after the Prophet faced deep loss, persecution, and rejection. Allah’s reassurance teaches us that hardship does not mean Allah has abandoned us. He hears our prayers, sees what we endure, and can change our situation. We should keep hope while also taking real steps to improve our lives and community. That includes caring for orphans, welcoming people who seek knowledge, and sharing the blessings Allah has given us.
