For the dinner table

Today's khutbah began by welcoming Matthew as a new Muslim and reminding us that the masjid is a family. The Prophet Muhammad was shaped by Allah to meet rejection, loss, migration, and victory with patience, gratitude, humility, and trust. The story of Badr showed that a united community relies on Allah while also preparing, planning, and caring for one another. We were asked to stay connected to Allah, not be ruled by people's approval or despairing news, and to make sincere du'a for people facing oppression, hunger, cold, and loneliness.

  1. When have patience or gratitude helped you handle a difficult moment?
  2. How can our family help someone new or lonely feel included?
  3. How do we stay aware of painful news without losing hope?
