For the dinner table

Allah has given us the gift of faith and guidance, so we should thank Him for it. Our weaknesses are not only failures; they can become opportunities when we choose obedience even though disobedience is possible. The story of Malik ibn Dinar reminds us that a person can leave a sinful life and return sincerely to Allah. We should never think our sins are bigger than Allah's mercy, but we should turn back to Him and change our actions. The khutbah also asked the community to pray for local projects and support them through ongoing charity.

  1. What is one weakness you could turn into an opportunity this week?
  2. Why can choosing the right thing be harder, and more rewarding, when the wrong thing is possible?
  3. What is one way our family can show hope in Allah by changing an action or helping a community project?
