Neglecting Allah hardens the heart

“When a person loses a connection with Allah, it is the first step towards a journey where the end result is Fir'aun.”

The khateeb, at 11:30

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that Allah created people with honor, but heedlessness can make us lose ourselves and become capable of harm. The khateeb warned that this decline can happen gradually when we forget Allah, excuse our wrong actions, or let arrogance grow. He encouraged us to strengthen our connection with Allah through prayer and worship, admit mistakes, and check our hearts regularly. We should stay emotionally connected to people who are suffering and make dua for them. If media or company makes us numb and detached, we should step back from it and protect the mercy Allah wants alive in us.

  1. What helps you remember Allah during an ordinary day?
  2. How can we admit a mistake and make things right?
  3. How can we tell whether something we watch is making us more caring or more numb?
