True peace comes through trusting Allah
“If Allah told us to be here, Allah would not leave us alone.”
In one sentence
True tranquility comes not from possessions or problem-free circumstances, but from sincerely trusting Allah, remembering Him, and acting with tawakkul through life's tests.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Introduces the heart as the believer's most important inner responsibility and defines its deepest longing as tranquility.
- Uses Ibrahim's request for greater certainty to distinguish intellectual belief from peace felt in the heart.
- Explores Ibrahim's three tests, fire, leaving his family in the desert, and sacrificing his son, as examples of tawakkul.
- Shows that Hajar's trust included active searching for water, leading to Zamzam and unexpected relief.
- Turns the lesson toward listeners, asking how they can develop a heart like Ibrahim's.
- Answers with Quranic remembrance: meaningful dhikr, conscious awareness of Allah, and remembering Him in ease before hardship.

Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“But there is something inside us that needs more attention. something that needs more care than everything else, something that is the most important part in the life of a believer. It's the heart.”
“What happens when something or someone you love is taken away from you? What happens when you do not know what tomorrow will bring?”
“But she knew one thing. If Allah told us to be here, Allah would not leave us alone. That is trust and that is tawakkul. That is tranquility.”
“Allah did not say when you have more money your heart will finally be at peace He did not say, when all your problems go away, your heart will finally be at peace.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
The khutbah teaches that everyone longs for tranquility, but lasting peace does not come simply from money, possessions, or having no problems. Ibrahim showed trust in Allah through the fire, the desert, and the command involving his son. Hajar also trusted Allah while actively searching for water, and Allah opened an unexpected way through Zamzam. We can strengthen our hearts by remembering Allah with understanding, staying conscious of Him, and practicing remembrance during easy times as well as hard ones.
- When do you find it hardest to trust Allah, and what might help your heart then?
- What is one prayer phrase whose meaning you would like to understand better?
- What is one easy-time moment when you could remember Allah more intentionally?
