Turn every sin into a good deed

“Allah has opened the door of hope for every single one of us.”

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminds us that everyone makes mistakes, but no one should give up hope in Allah's mercy. When we do something wrong, we should turn back quickly through sincere repentance and a good deed. Sometimes the best good deed matches the mistake, such as praising someone after backbiting or listening to Quran after harmful speech or media. Repentance means feeling sorry, asking Allah's forgiveness, and trying not to repeat the wrong. Even a person with a very troubled past can change through worship, kindness, and learning.

  1. What good deed could you do right after making a mistake?
  2. How can we repair someone's hurt feelings after saying something unkind?
  3. What helps you remember Allah when you feel discouraged?
