- Increase mercy, forgiveness, and generosity
- Prepare the home and create sacred space
- Schedule worship and intentions
- Deepen connection to the Quran and Sunnah
In the khateeb's words
“Ramadan, it's a month of mercy. It's a month where if I act correctly, Allah will pull me closer to Him.”
“Anything you want to accomplish in Ramadan, treat it like a meeting and put the reminder in your phone.”
“It's not a month of backbiting. It's not a month of useless talk.”
For the dinner table
The khateeb encouraged us to welcome Ramadan with reverence and joy, even when fasting feels difficult. He reminded us to show mercy, forgive mistakes, and be generous with our time, prayers, concern, and money. We can prepare our home by making a sacred space where we put away devices and gather for worship and good conversation. A simple schedule can help us remember our intentions and make time for the good we hope to do. He also urged us to deepen our connection to the Quran and follow the Prophet’s example of extra effort during Ramadan, while asking Allah to help us.
- What is something about Ramadan that makes you happy?
- Who could use some of your time or kindness this week?
- Where could we make a little space at home for prayer and Quran together?
