Returning to Allah is never too late
“When we turn back to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala even if we lose things in this dunya we recognize that we increase in peace we increase in tranquility.”
It is never too late to return sincerely to Allah through tawhid, istighfar, disciplined worship, awe of His majesty, and following the Prophet’s example rather than worldly influencers.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Nuh’s 950-year mission was sustained by fear of failing Allah’s mission, not merely affection for his people.
- Nuh’s people drifted from tawhid into shirk by following elites, desires, and distracting role models, pressures Muslims face today.
- Bilal’s strength illustrates divine power that comes from attachment to Allah rather than worldly status.
- Nuh’s solution was sincere istighfar, which Allah connects to forgiveness, provision, children, gardens, and rivers.
- Awe of Allah’s creation should redirect hearts from sin, sports, social media, and other distractions.
- The khutbah closes by urging Muslims to study and practice the Prophet’s sunnah and become worthy members of the best ummah.
In the khateeb's words
“the reality is our children are more concerned with Batman and Superman instead of the likes of the Sahaba who had truly amazing stories that are worthy to be our role models”
“when we turn back to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala even if we lose things in this dunya we recognize that we increase in peace we increase in tranquility”
“what is the matter with us that we are not simply in awe in awe from the majesty of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala”
For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah reminds us that we are never too far gone to turn back to Allah. Prophet Nuh kept calling his people because his deepest concern was fulfilling Allah’s mission, and he taught them that sincere istighfar opens the door to forgiveness and blessing. We were encouraged to choose better role models, give the Qur’an and the Prophet’s sunnah more attention than influencers and distractions, and build discipline in worship. When life is hard or we lose worldly things, turning to Allah can give us peace, strength, and hope for the Hereafter.
- What distracts your heart from Allah, and what could you change this week?
- Which quality of Nuh or Bilal would you like to practice?
- What is one way our family can spend more time with the Qur’an or Sunnah?
