For the dinner table

Ramadan is a precious chance to draw closer to Allah and grow in taqwa, or awareness of Him. The khateeb reminded us that fasting is not only staying away from food and drink; it also means guarding our words, eyes, ears, thoughts, and hearts. We should pair fasting with the five daily prayers, Taraweeh, repentance after mistakes, and regular Jumu'ah attendance. If we use the month faithfully, we can leave it better Muslims and better human beings.

  1. What part of yourself besides your stomach can you “fast” with today?
  2. What is one way we can protect our words, eyes, or thoughts this week?
  3. How can our family make Jumu'ah and prayer a steady habit?
