Close the paths that lead to sin

“When a person has cut off this avenue of sin, then slowly, slowly starts building an environment where he's doing good deeds.”

The khateeb, at 14:34

In one sentence

Lasting spiritual change requires identifying the root causes and avenues of sin, removing those pathways, and gradually building supportive environments for good deeds.

The khutbah in 5 steps

  1. Recurring sins persist when people fail to identify their root causes and triggering circumstances.
  2. Shaitan exploits isolation, free time, emotional weakness, and heedlessness through subtle whispers.
  3. Quranic verses and hadith teach believers to seek refuge in Allah from these whispers.
  4. Avoiding sin requires practical barriers, such as phone restrictions, immediate prayer, routines, and trusted accountability.
  5. After closing avenues to sin, believers should gradually build good deeds within conducive spiritual environments.
