Youth need mentorship to lead the Muslim community
“We can create programs and not include the youth.”
In one sentence
Muslim communities must actively invest in, mentor, and empower their youth to become future religious leaders grounded in tawheed so that Islam is carried forward to the next generation.
The khutbah in 8 steps
- Introduction: building an Islamic community begins with righteous homes and spouses
- Life's purpose is to worship Allah, so every decision must align with sharia
- Youth must develop zeal to become imams, da'is, teachers, and scholars
- Prophetic and Quranic youth role models: People of the Cave, Ibrahim, Yusuf, Anas ibn Malik, Mu'adh ibn Jabal, Zayd ibn Thabit
- The masjid must include youth in decision-making and create opportunities for them
- Counter public-school ideologies by teaching tawheed, aqidah, and answering youth questions
- Practical investment: sponsor students, host dinners and sports, mentor, and encourage youth leadership
- Urgency: external forces compete for youth, so the community must wake up and act now
