For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that we will answer to Allah for our choices, and that looking honestly at ourselves helps us grow. He contrasted Adam's regret and repentance with Iblis's habit of blaming others. Taking responsibility gives us a chance to ask Allah for forgiveness and begin again with humility and hope. He also reminded us that our tongues, ears, and eyes are blessings we should use in ways that please Allah. His practical advice was to remember our blessings each morning, review our actions and seek forgiveness before bed, and start again whenever we forget.

  1. What is one blessing Allah gave you today, and how did you use it?
  2. When you make a mistake, what helps you admit it and try to put it right?
  3. What could help you remember to thank Allah and ask for forgiveness before bed?
