Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Ramadan is a school for taqwa, which means remembering that Allah is watching and choosing His commands over our impulses. It is also a month of sabr: patience in worship, patience in avoiding sin, and patience when life is difficult. The stories of Yusuf, Musa, Muhammad, and Umm Salim show that Allah does not waste faithful patience, even when relief takes a long time. We can carry Ramadan forward by protecting our speech and behavior, keeping prayer and charity, and trusting Allah when we give something up for His sake. The khutbah ended by asking Allah to heal the sick and bless the community.

  2. Which kind of patience, worship, avoiding sin, or hardship, do you most want to practice this week, and how?
