Repentance & taqwaFrom the masjid's own video, Sep 3, 2025.

Hope for sinners, fear of Allah

“Let your hope push you to try again and let your fear equally keep you from repeating that same mistake.”

The khateeb, at 34:11

For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that Allah is merciful and that we should keep returning to Him when we make mistakes. The khateeb described how the Prophet responded with mercy and hope even after being hurt and rejected at Ta'if. Through stories of repentance, he encouraged us to admit our wrongs, ask for forgiveness, and take steps toward change. He explained that hope helps us try again, while fear of consequences helps us stay alert to our choices. We are imperfect, but our mistakes do not have to define who we become.

  1. What could help you respond kindly when someone hurts your feelings?
  2. What is one step someone can take to put things right after a mistake?
  3. How can our family make it easier to admit mistakes and ask for help?
