Seek Allah’s forgiveness through righteous living

For the dinner table

Today the khateeb invited us to think carefully about the words we use when asking Allah for mercy. He explained forgiveness, pardon that erases a mistake, and overlooking a mistake as increasingly deep expressions of mercy. He encouraged us to grow through sincere faith, good actions, and avoiding sins, rather than treating forgiveness as an excuse to do wrong. He reminded us that our honor comes from being Allah's servants, even when other people fail to respect us, and that living with this confidence takes spiritual practice. He also acknowledged that people already suffering from stress or depression should seek help from a doctor or someone who can support them. Above all, he encouraged us to seek the sweetness of loving Allah and let that love guide what we do.
