For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that Ramadan’s blessings can continue through the habits we carry into the rest of the year. He encouraged us to keep reflecting on the Quran, praying, and giving charity, describing these as a trade with Allah that will never fail. He warned about our lower desires and Satan, and urged us to listen to the inner reminder that calls us back to worship and to ask Allah to purify our souls. He also reminded us of the opportunity to fast six days in Shawwal. Above all, he asked us to preserve Ramadan’s good behavior by spending time with family, eating and praying together when possible, and forgiving one another.

  1. Which Ramadan habit would you like our family to keep this week?
  2. What helps you listen to the inner reminder to do the right thing?
  3. How could we practice forgiveness during an everyday family disagreement?
