“We cannot have trust in only the qadr of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and not attempt to do our best.”

The khateeb, at 6:36

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that qadr, Allah’s decree, reflects His knowledge and wisdom, even when we cannot understand what happens. Trusting Allah also means doing our part, like tying a camel before leaving it in His care. The khateeb encouraged us to show gratitude when life is easy and patience when life is hard. He reminded us that our knowledge is limited and that even Allah’s messengers faced trials. Through prayer, regular du'a, and saying alhamdulillah, we can keep turning to Allah in both happy and difficult times.

  1. What is one way you could “tie your camel” by making an effort this week?
  2. What blessing would you like to thank Allah for today?
  3. When something does not go your way, what could help you respond with patience?
