For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us to keep hoping in Allah’s mercy and to ask Him for forgiveness when we make mistakes. Being Muslim does not mean we are perfect, and hope in forgiveness should encourage us to obey Allah and take our actions seriously. The khateeb taught us to balance hope for Allah’s mercy with fear of His punishment. He also remembered three Muslims who had died after contributing to the community and encouraged others to continue their example of service. As a family, we can give through our time, skills, experience, and money, and practice our faith with confidence and sincerity.

  1. What helps you ask Allah for forgiveness and try again after a mistake?
  2. What talent or bit of free time could you use to help someone this week?
  3. Who in our community inspires you to do good, and what have you learned from them?
