Imam Saad reminded us that Allah introduces Himself as merciful, and His mercy gives us hope when we make mistakes. We should turn back to Allah and ask for forgiveness, sincerely intending to leave the mistake behind. If we stumble again, we should return to Him again rather than give up hope. Ramadan is a special opportunity to build daily habits of repentance, dua, and remembering Allah. The khutbah also encouraged us to respond thoughtfully when reading the Qur’an and to care for aging parents with kindness and gentleness.

  1. How does remembering Allah’s mercy help you when you make a mistake?
  2. What small habit of dua or asking forgiveness could we practice together this Ramadan?
