For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that turning back to Allah is something we need throughout our lives, and that Allah loves those who keep repenting. Tawbah begins in the heart, with sincere regret when we fall short and a desire to return to Allah. If we repeat a mistake, we should keep seeking forgiveness without giving up, while being careful not to plan the wrongdoing. When we have harmed another person or taken their rights, we also need to seek their forgiveness or make things right. He encouraged a simple response to our mistakes: make wudu, pray two rak'ah of tawbah, and ask Allah for forgiveness instead of making extreme promises.

  1. What everyday moment could remind you to ask Allah for forgiveness?
  2. How could someone make things right after hurting another person's feelings or taking something?
  3. What could help someone try again after making the same mistake?
