The khateeb reminded us that loving Allah is a way of living, expressed through our actions and the people we spend time with. He shared a dua asking for Allah’s love, the ability to love Him, and love for actions that bring us closer to Him. He compared our journey to a boat with two oars: fear of Allah’s displeasure and hope in His mercy. We need both, drawing more on fear when tempted to do wrong and more on hope after a mistake so we do not fall into despair. He encouraged each of us to look honestly at our balance and make a change that helps us grow closer to Allah.
