For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught that Islam means submitting to Allah, not simply identifying as Muslim or following personal preference. The prophets shared the call to worship one Creator, and Muslims follow that call through the Quran, the Sunnah, worship, and good character. Scholars deserve respect, but when clear proof from the Quran and Sunnah is known, revelation comes first; when we do not know, we should ask a trustworthy person of knowledge. We can practice this by learning, asking before acting, and following the Prophet’s guidance.

  1. When is it hard to put Allah’s guidance before what we personally want?
  2. Who could we ask when we have a question about Islam?
  3. What is one Sunnah we can practice together this week?
