Sinful choices can seal the heart

“We constantly have to be mindful of the decisions that we make.”

The khateeb, at 8:13

For the dinner table

Sheikh Jaffer reminded us that remembering Imam al-Husayn should help us become better believers beyond the first days of Muharram. He explained that we need open hearts to receive guidance, and that our surroundings, what we consume, and our habits can affect our willingness to listen. Our choices also influence the people around us, so we share a responsibility to encourage goodness. During the mourning period, he encouraged families to avoid celebrations while explaining that ordinary outings, park visits, and family dinners can still be part of life. He also asked us to attend majalis with sincere intentions, appreciating their blessings and our connection to the Prophet and his family.
