For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah used the story of Prophet Yusuf to show that patience and mindfulness of Allah can carry us through jealousy, temptation, injustice, and hardship. Yusuf chose obedience even when it cost him his freedom, and Allah eventually protected and raised him. The sermon also reminded us that our jobs and skills can serve Allah by helping people and strengthening the community. We should carry the habits of Ramadan, taqwa, patience, and reliance on Allah, into ordinary days, especially when temptations are strong. Allah does not waste the reward of those who remain patient and mindful of Him.
