For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that our hearts were created to know and love Allah. Loving our family, friends, and the good things in life is natural, but those changing things cannot carry all our hopes or define who we are. Trusting Allah does not mean we stop feeling sad or hurt; we can cry and still turn to Him. He shared Umm Salama’s story to show how we can make dua even while grieving and unsure of what comes next. Through prayer, dua, and remembering Allah, we can keep returning to Him without waiting until everything in our lives is fixed.

  1. How could we enjoy a friendship without letting someone’s approval decide how we feel about ourselves?
  2. When you feel sad or disappointed, how could we help you feel heard and remember Allah?
  3. What small way of remembering Allah could we practice together this week?
