Prepare for Ramadan in Sha'ban

“This is a month to make ourselves get used to performing good deeds.”

The khateeb, at 18:00

In one sentence

Sha'ban should be used as an active spiritual preparation for Ramadan through worship, repentance, Qur'an, remembrance, and improved daily habits rather than waiting for Ramadan to begin.

For the dinner table

Sha'ban is a precious month and a chance to prepare our hearts for Ramadan. Because many people overlook it, sincere worship during this month can help us grow instead of postponing change. We were encouraged to begin now with Qur'an, dua, dhikr, congregational prayer, tahajjud, appropriate fasting, and honest repentance. We should not wait for Ramadan, Hajj, or another future moment to change, and we should avoid wasting time in pointless talk. As a family, we can choose one small act of worship and one harmful habit to change this week.

  1. What is one act of worship we can begin before Ramadan?
  2. When do we tend to waste time instead of remembering Allah?
  3. What future event are we tempted to wait for before changing?
