For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught that taqwa is not only private worship; it should make us notice and respond to harm around us. We should begin close to home by modeling honesty, salah, patience, and care for our spouses and children. Like people sharing one ship, our community is connected, so we should protect the vulnerable, refuse dishonest practices, and help repair problems. When we address wrongdoing, we should act or speak when able, but do so with wisdom, good counsel, and practical follow-through. The speaker also urged thoughtful civic participation by researching public records, considering competence and integrity, and questioning wrong even after supporting someone.

  1. Where can you help repair the ship this week?
  2. How can our family correct a problem with wisdom?
