Use Ramadan's last nights to seek forgiveness
“I have to ask them to forgive me and to accept me.”
The last ten nights of Ramadan, especially Laylat al-Qadr, should be used for intensified worship, sincere repentance, reconciliation, and prayer for suffering people.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Thanks Allah for reaching Ramadan's last ten nights and describes the Prophet's increased worship.
- Explains Laylat al-Qadr's immense value, forgiveness, and recommended prayer for forgiveness.
- Connects worship with purified character and reconciliation, using the story of arguing Muslims.
- Urges listeners to recognize wrongs, seek forgiveness from people, and repair relationships.
- Reminds listeners to give zakat al-fitr and pray for Gaza, Palestine, and oppressed people.
- Concludes with supplications for peace, forgiveness, Laylat al-Qadr, and salvation.
In the khateeb's words
“So what about us? What about us? What about us in these days? The doors of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala are opened. And if you pray, Allah will answer your prayers. If you ask, Allah will give you.”
“it is a time to fix this problem and when you subhanallah when you forgive Allah will forgive you”
“some problems with people with my parents with my wife with my children with my brothers at the masjid outside the masjid i have to ask them to forgive me and to accept me”
“we have brothers we have sisters we have our people who are suffering so please pray pray for them”
For the dinner table
The khateeb says the last ten nights of Ramadan are a special chance to seek Laylat al-Qadr and Allah’s forgiveness. He encourages extra prayer, sincere dua, and learning from the Prophet’s devotion during these nights. He also stresses that worship must be joined to clean relationships: we should admit our mistakes, ask people to forgive us, and forgive others. He reminds the congregation to give zakat al-fitr and to be grateful for the safety and blessings they have. Finally, he asks everyone to pray for Gaza, Palestine, and all people facing hunger, fear, and oppression.
- What is one act of worship you could increase during the last ten nights?
- Is there a relationship you could make better by apologizing or forgiving?
- How can we show care for people suffering far away?
