Seek Allah’s support through patience
“We have to, first and foremost, seek the divine support, asking Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to make it easy for us.”
Allah’s divine support is available in every area of life, but believers must seek it through patience, mindfulness, prayer, obedience, and perseverance while avoiding disunity, disobedience, and attachment to worldly life.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Defines divine support and identifies believing, God-conscious servants as its recipients.
- Uses Badr and Surah Al-Imran to connect divine support with patience and mindfulness.
- Applies the theme to marriage, infertility, parenting, debt, worship, and daily prayer.
- Draws on Zakariya, Ibrahim, prophetic supplications, and companions’ examples.
- Connects the need for divine support to suffering in Gaza and Sudan.
- Lists conditions for support and barriers including weakness, disputes, disobedience, and love of worldly life.
In the khateeb's words
“At this point, we have to, first and foremost, seek the divine support, asking Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to make it easy for us, that you stand up during the night and your mission is to ask Allah's support.”
“You do not establish the prayer because of your power. Or because you're clever or smart.”
“Some of you wanted the dunya. And when you want the dunya, and the dunya is in the heart. So you lose al-akhirah. And you lose the victory.”
For the dinner table
The khutbah teaches that Allah’s help is needed in every part of life, not only in battles, but also in marriage, parenting, debt, prayer, and community hardship. We should seek that help through sincere du'a, night prayer, remembrance, patience, mindfulness of Allah, and obedience to the Qur'an and Sunnah. The speaker encourages families to ask Allah for good character in marriage, protection for children, and strength to keep praying. He also warns that disunity, disobedience, weakened religious commitment, and love of worldly life can block this support. In times of suffering, including Gaza and Sudan, the community should keep turning to Allah while remaining patient and hopeful.
- When have you needed Allah’s help with something difficult?
- What can make it easier for our family to pray regularly?
- How can we disagree without letting arguments divide us?
