For the dinner table

Today's khutbah taught that humility before Allah means never assuming our worship makes us automatically righteous or guarantees Jannah. The early generations worshipped deeply but still worried that their deeds might not be accepted because of flawed intentions, arrogance, or showing off. This concern should not become despair, because believers balance fear of their shortcomings with good hope in Allah's mercy. We can live this balance by praying, fasting, giving voluntary charity, examining our intentions, and rushing toward good deeds. Our deeds are small before Allah's rights, while salvation ultimately comes through His mercy and love.

  1. What is one good deed you can do this week without seeking praise?
  2. What helps you take your mistakes seriously while still hoping in Allah's mercy?
  3. What kind of sadaqa could our family practice besides giving money?
