For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that Islam gives knowledge a high place: Allah told the Prophet to ask for more knowledge, and the first revealed command was “Iqra.” Every Muslim must learn what is needed for worship, such as prayer and fasting, while the community must also develop fields such as medicine, engineering, law, and security. Studying the world can help us appreciate the signs and wisdom in the Qur’an. These signs should deepen our connection to the Qur’an, not merely fascinate us. During the summer, parents should help children stay connected to the Qur’an, the deen, the masajid, and beneficial learning.

  1. What is one thing you would like to learn more about this summer?
  2. How can our family make Qur’an learning part of our weekly routine?
  3. What job or skill could you develop to help other people?
