For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah invited us to learn from the story of Adam and Iblis by looking honestly at our own hearts. The khateeb explained that comparing ourselves with others can make us feel superior or cause us to overlook the blessings Allah has given us. He reminded us to act on good intentions and seek forgiveness without assuming we can always do it later. Adam and Hawa showed us how to respond to mistakes by accepting responsibility and asking Allah for mercy. We can practice gratitude together by recognizing Allah’s gifts, appreciating what He gives others, and asking Him to cleanse our hearts of envy and resentment.

  1. What blessing from Allah did you notice today that you sometimes overlook?
  2. When someone else gets something you wanted, what could help you feel happy for them?
  3. What is one good thing we can do together tonight instead of putting it off?
