Trust Allah while taking lawful means

“You have a responsibility when it comes to the work that you do.”

The khateeb, at 15:22

In times of personal and communal hardship, believers should respond with taqwa, trust Allah’s provision, take halal means, and leave outcomes to Him.

For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us to pray for our brothers and sisters in Gaza, Palestine, and other places where people are oppressed, and to care about their hardships. He shared three reminders for facing our own worries: be mindful of Allah, remember that Allah provides, and put our trust in Him. Being mindful of Allah includes doing our work honestly, treating others with good character, and taking responsibility for how we raise and guide our children. Remembering Allah as our Provider encourages us to seek what is permissible without chasing dishonest shortcuts. Trusting Allah means making our best effort and leaving the outcome to Him, remembering that He knows our needs.

  1. Who could we remember in our du'a tonight, and what could we ask Allah to grant them?
  2. What is one responsibility you could carry out with more care this week?
  3. When something feels uncertain, what effort can you make while trusting Allah with the result?
