For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah invited us to look at our own actions and ask whether the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would be pleased with how we live. The khateeb explained that the Prophet taught through both encouragement and warning, bringing together hope in Allah’s mercy and fear of His punishment. Encouragement helps us do good, while warnings help us turn away from sins and carelessness. He reminded us to be patient when doing good is difficult and to be careful about following our desires. He also reminded us that someone overlooked by people can matter greatly to Allah, and warned against cruelty, greed, and arrogance.

  1. What is one action from today that you would feel happy telling the Prophet about?
  2. When was doing the right thing difficult this week, and what helped you?
  3. Who might feel left out around us, and how could we help them feel included?
