Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“The point of the Quran is to understand the message from Allah. The Quran is filled with morals and parables, lessons and values, instructions, prohibitions.”
“Everyone should have the Mus'haf in a language they understand, and at least understand the translation.”
“The point of fasting, my brothers and sisters, the point of it is to remind you that you are a servant of God, that you are one who submits himself to Allah.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us that Ramadan is approaching and that it should transform how we live. It is the month of the Quran, so we should seek to understand its meanings and act on its guidance, not only recite it. Fasting teaches us to submit to Allah and leave sins as well as food and drink. Ramadan is also a time for generosity, including helping provide iftar for others. Above all, it is a month to turn to Allah with sincere duas, trusting that He is near and hears us.
- What is one Quran passage you would like to understand better this Ramadan?
- What is one sin or bad habit you can try to leave for Allah?
- Who could our family help or feed during Ramadan?
