For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that every Muslim needs to learn how to practice the deen, including prayer, fasting, zakah, and reading the Quran. We are never too old or too young to begin learning. Through the hadith of Jibreel, the khateeb explained Islam, iman, and ihsan, and showed how the companions learned through questions in the Prophet's company. He encouraged us to approach teachers respectfully and make prayer deeply rooted in our lives. Ihsan means worshipping Allah as though we see Him, and remembering that He sees us even when we cannot see Him. As a family, we can keep learning together and put what we learn into action.

  1. What is one thing about prayer or the Quran you would like us to learn together?
  2. How can we show respect and curiosity when someone is teaching us?
  3. What kind thing could you do while remembering that Allah sees it, even if nobody else does?
