Daily choices keep you on Islam's straight path
“We are all on a journey.”
Life is a continuous journey toward the Hereafter, and staying on Islam's straight path requires daily Quran engagement, spiritual awareness, knowledge, self-restraint, and good companionship.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Life is a time-bound journey whose only rest is entering Paradise.
- Surah al-Fatiha's straight path is explained as Islam and steadfastness upon the way of the prophets and Companions.
- The straight-path parable maps walls to Allah's boundaries, open doors to forbidden acts, and the callers to the Quran and inner faith.
- Five applications are offered: daily Quran, inner awareness of Allah, learning boundaries, removing temptations and harmful habits, and seeking companionship.
- The khutbah closes with reminders about Quranic intercession, blessings on the Prophet, and supplication.
In the khateeb's words
“we are all on a journey and that journey is a time journey so from today to the time that we die”
“it is when you put your right foot in paradise that's the time you can take a rest”
“engage with the Quran 10 minutes 15 minutes half an hour whatever you can do”
“make a list inside of yourself What are three red lines that I am not going to cross this week that I was doing before”
For the dinner table
Life is a journey from today until death, and every day is one station on the way to the Hereafter. The straight path is Islam, and Allah guides us through the Quran and through the inner voice of faith that warns us away from sin. The khateeb encouraged us to read some Quran every day, build awareness of Allah, learn His boundaries, remove tempting digital content, and leave harmful habits such as vaping or smoking. He also reminded us that good companionship through a halaqah, the masjid, or beneficial lectures helps us stay steady. We can begin this week with small, honest steps and keep asking Allah to guide and protect us.
- What is one small Quran habit you could begin this week?
- Which online distraction would you like to limit, and what could replace it?
- Who helps you stay connected to good choices and faith?
