Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us to thank Allah for another year of life and another opportunity to do good. His main message was that growing in faith requires us to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. A nice home or steady job can be a blessing, but possessions alone do not measure success, and our blessings can also be tests. He encouraged us to bring the willingness to sacrifice that we show for other goals into our relationship with Allah. Reflecting on suffering in Gaza and the struggles of the prophets, he urged us to care for our children, families, mosques, and schools, with hope in Allah and the reward of Jannah.

  1. What is one good thing that feels difficult to do, and how could we help each other do it?
  2. What would a successful day look like if we measured it by kindness and remembering Allah?
  3. When something sad in the world brings up big questions, what helps you talk about it?
