Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“It is the rule book. It's the guide book. It's the steps by which we take and transform our life. It's our priority list.”
“We have to invite people over for iftar. We have to support iftars. We have to feed our family, feed the needy, feed the people who have no food.”
“We do not despair. We are hopeful. We turn to Allah. We turn to the example of the Prophet and we are hopeful, we have ihtisab that Allah will give us the reward of this month insha'Allah.”
“Let us be careful of the state of our heart and the results of our tongues and what we hear and what we say and what we convey.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
Ramadan is an opportunity to let the Quran reshape our priorities and daily lives. The Prophet’s example teaches us to eat suhoor, break our fast promptly, pray at night, and stay connected to the Quran. We should also become more generous by feeding people and helping those in need. Even if we have made many mistakes, we should never despair of Allah’s mercy. Fasting should purify our hearts and guide our speech, patience, and behavior.
- What is one Ramadan habit you would like to improve?
- How can our family help feed or support someone this Ramadan?
- What could you say or do when someone makes you angry while you are fasting?
