For the dinner table

As Ramadan approaches, the khateeb asks us to make choices with the Hereafter in mind. When something goes wrong, we should accept Allah’s decree instead of getting stuck in “if only” thoughts. He teaches that the right response depends on the situation: for one young man, serving his parents was his most important religious duty. The Prophet’s simple life showed that comfort in this world is not the measure of success. This week, we can remember Allah before deciding, leave a sin, pray, serve our parents, and keep repenting when we fall short.

  1. What is one small choice you can make this week with the Hereafter in mind?
  2. What is one way our family can serve a parent or elder?
  3. What comfort could we give up to make more room for Allah?
