Choose principles when circumstances change

“The first thing to remember is to be driven by principles, not by circumstances.”

The khateeb, at 13:28

For the dinner table

Life keeps changing, but we still have choices about the kind of people we become. The khutbah encouraged us to follow principles of taqwa instead of being controlled by circumstances or emotions. Prophet Yusuf showed that patience, honesty, and forgiveness can survive betrayal, temptation, hardship, and power. Young people were encouraged to continue their education and work hard for excellence. We were also reminded to serve our community, honor those who built its mosques, and pray for people who are ill or suffering.

  3. What contribution could you make to help your family or community?
