Let revelation shape how you see reality
“The more you rely upon the unseen, the more tranquility you have, the more steady you're going to be on the path.”
The believer must let faith in the unseen through Allah's revelation shape perception, motivation, patience, decisions, and reliance on Allah rather than material instincts or self-sufficiency.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Defines the believer's journey as iman expressed through taqwa and mindful obedience.
- Explains belief in the unseen as a lived framework shaping thought, emotion, decisions, and understanding of reality.
- Warns that disconnecting from revelation leaves people ruled by instinct, materialistic desire, anxiety, and Shaytan's promise of poverty.
- Uses Quranic images and stories, the mirage, layered darkness, Ibrahim, Nuh, and Aad, to contrast human perception with revealed reality.
- Calls believers to humility, patience, dhikr, dua, and dependence on Allah rather than self-reliance.
- Closes with supplications for steadfast faith, purified character, and relief for people in Gaza.
In the khateeb's words
“the belief in the unseen means when the Iman becomes that substance that really shape everything in you.”
“The more you rely upon the unseen, the more tranquility you have, the more steady you're going to be on the path.”
“Therefore, relying upon yourself, which is a full, direct result of not adhering fully to the belief of the unseen, make someone in the path of ruin.”
For the dinner table
The khutbah teaches that faith is not only saying we believe; it is letting belief in Allah and the unseen shape how we think, feel, choose, and endure. When we forget Allah, fear, desire, and the pressure to secure ourselves can become our guides, but revelation gives a wider and truer view of life. The speaker encourages patience, dhikr, dua, humility, and reliance on Allah in everyday work, provision, and hardship. He closes by asking Allah to strengthen our faith, purify our hearts and actions, and show mercy to people in Gaza.
- What is one difficult situation where trusting Allah could change how you respond?
- What helps you remember that your abilities and provision come from Allah?
- Why did the khateeb say human strength and confidence can sometimes give us a false picture of reality?
