Repentance & taqwaFrom the masjid's own video, Sep 26, 2026.
Trust Allah's provision and return to Quran
“The Quran is the teacher, and you are the student.”
In one sentence
Because Allah alone is the Provider and Lord, believers should return to the Quran, cultivate God-consciousness, care for themselves and others, mend relationships, and act on sincere intentions.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Allah created humanity to worship Him and alone provides for every creature.
- Trusting Allah's provision challenges greed, dishonesty, and materialism.
- Taqwa includes awareness of Allah's mercy, not fear alone, and requires returning to the Quran.
- Believers should admit what they do not know and remember resurrection and accountability.
- Repentance, Quran reflection, and mutual support can help believers through spiritual lows.
- Self-care, forgiveness, relationship repair, prayer for the ill, and intentional action complete the sermon.

Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“When you know that your provision is in the hands of Allah, that means no one can take your risk from you, your provision.”
“And how do we become more familiar with our Lord? We go to the Qur'an.”
“The Quran is the teacher, and you are the student. Because every time you sit with the Quran, you're going to learn something else.”
“You don't have to have all the knowledge in the world. You don't have to know everything. You just have to have a correct intention and then act on it.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us that Allah created us to worship Him and that He alone provides for every creature. He encouraged us to return to the Quran, grow in awareness of Allah, believe in what lies beyond our senses, and remember the Day of Gathering. He also said that spiritual lows are not a reason to give up: we can repent, read the Quran, care for ourselves, forgive, and mend relationships. Finally, he urged us to pray for people who are ill and to turn good intentions into deliberate action.
- Where did you notice Allah's provision, mercy, or care this week?
- What is one small way our family could mend a relationship?
- How can we care for our bodies and spirits while helping others?
